The Earlham Institute (EI) is a hub of life science research, training, and innovation focused on understanding the natural world through the lens of genomics. The Earlham Institute is based within the Norwich Research Park and receives strategic funding from the UK Research Council. Our projects span technology development, data infrastructure and knowledge exchange. We have a focus on genomics and bioinformatics, applied to plants, animals and microbes.

Role in the Legume Generation project

We coordinate the data-centric WP7, which goal is to ensure data is readily accessible to legume breeders and other stakeholders to inform decisions in their breeding innovation. We manage and curate the “knowledge centre” centralised web-based platform for gathering and cataloguing genotyping and phenotyping data, metadata and association analysis from cultivars and field trails. We unify practices and vocabularies (ontologies), match international best practices on data management. We provide advice, training and interpretation of the Data Management Plan. In coordination with WPs 8 and 9, to develop the secondary bioinformatic analysis on this research data to obtain new insights.
